Vietnam Pomelo Exports
Vietnam is becoming an increasingly important exporter of pomelo, especially the green-skin pomelo (Bưởi Da Xanh). Export growth has accelerated as new markets open and phytosanitary agreements are completed.
Main Export Markets
- China – In April 2026, Vietnam and China signed a protocol allowing official exports of Vietnamese pomelos to China, one of the world's largest fruit markets. Export orchards and packing houses must meet strict registration and quarantine requirements.
- Australia – Australia recently opened its market to Vietnamese fresh pomelos. The first official shipments were exported in 2025–2026, creating opportunities in a premium market with strong demand for imported fruit.
- United States – Vietnamese pomelos are already present in the U.S. market and have received positive consumer feedback for their flavor and quality.
- Other destinations include South Korea, New Zealand and several additional markets. Vietnamese fresh pomelos are now exported to more than a dozen countries and territories.
Major Production Areas
- Dong Nai – nearly 11,000 hectares of pomelo cultivation, one of the largest producing regions in southern Vietnam.
- Vinh Long – an important exporter of fresh pomelos.
- Dong Thap – expanding export-oriented production areas.
- Ben Tre – famous for Bưởi Da Xanh (green-skin pomelo).
Export Performance
Pomelo has become one of Vietnam's fastest-growing fruit exports. In the first quarter of 2025, pomelo export value exceeded US$17.5 million, up more than 60% year-on-year.
